Notice of Appearance Rule proposed by Florida Bar Rules Committee.

Florida's Rules of Judicial Administration Committee drafts proposed rules regulating how attorneys appear in cases. This is the second effort from this committee to require the filing of a notice of appearance for attorneys that cover hearings. The proposed rule has a carve out for large law firms and targets solo or individuals covering hearings and serving as local counsel. The proposed rule currently drafted states in pertinent part, "For non-firm or non-agency covering attorneys, “An attorney may stand in for another attorney to cover a discrete proceeding or hearing only by filing a notice of stand-in counsel or announcing on the record, when applicable, an appearance as stand-in counsel,” In regulating coverage attorneys, the rules committee's proposal memorializes this common practice in the written rules for all attorneys in the State of Florida. Changes for sale cancellations in Miami-Dade: Appearance attorneys will need to appear before division judges after August 10, 2018

Major change for sale cancellations in Miami-Dade soon. Appearance Counsels will need to appear before division judges after August 10, 2018 After August 10, 2018, there will no longer be a walk-in calendar for sale cancellations motions. Those motions must be set and heard before the assigned division judge. Set your motions to be heard and contact Appearance Network for coverage counsel for these motions. After 8 years, sale cancellations will now go back to the assigned judges. Check the individual judges site for specific procedures or contact Appearance Network to get details on what is permitted for each division. The administrative order also notes that the Clerk of Court will be reducing sales from 5 days a week to 3 days. Here is a link to the new administrative order.
